Where to start

Choosing a wax jambu (wax apple)

UF/IFAS hasn't rated wax jambu varieties for Florida. Gene Joyner of UF/IFAS Palm Beach County Extension describes red- and white-skinned types with white, very crisp flesh that is bland in many varieties and good fresh in some; mature trees take about 28°F for brief periods, young trees need freeze protection, air-layered trees begin bearing at three to four feet tall, and the fruit ripens in late spring and early summer.
