Which fig to plant first

UF/IFAS recommends 'common' figs for Florida (they fruit without a pollinator wasp) and says the best ones have a closed eye so rain and insects stay out.

  • Brown Turkey

    UF/IFAS calls it probably the most popular fig in the Southeast: a small early crop in July, the main crop a month later; medium-large bronze fruit, amber pulp, small-to-medium closed eye. It was in UF's replicated fig trial.
